Highlights of the clinical building

The Hale Family Building will include:

  • State-of-the-art NICU: 30 beds that replace open bays with private rooms
  • Comprehensive and integrated Heart Center: Five floors with 96 private inpatient rooms, a cardiac clinic with 21 exam rooms and 9 pre-op exam rooms, and all cardiac diagnostic and treatments on one floor
  • Single inpatient rooms: Provide privacy, quality, safety and comfort for patients and families
  • Info-sharing hubs to enhance clinical collaboration by spurring discussions, reviewing observations and fostering innovation
  • Expanded high tech environments: Integration within the surgical floors, such as an enhanced interventional radiology suite and new hybrid operating rooms
  • New state-of-the-art clinical lab, featuring an open-floor concept that stresses efficiencies through design
  • Larger and more efficient space for pharmacy, central processing and pathology
  • 25 percent more green and open space, both indoor and outdoor

Project milestones

  • Site prep: ongoing – second quarter 2018
  • Excavation/cross lot bracing: second quarter 2018 – first quarter 2019
  • Steel/concrete superstructure: fourth quarter 2018 – third quarter 2019
  • Building envelop: second quarter 2019 – first quarter 2020
  • Interior fit-out: second quarter 2019 – fourth quarter 2020
  • MEP systems start up/testing/inspection: fourth quarter 2020 – second quarter 2021
  • Opening: third quarter 2021
