Dr. Paul R. Hickey is Anesthesiologist-in-Chief at Boston Children’s Hospital and Professor of Anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School, where he serves as Chair of the Executive Committee of the Department of Anaesthesia. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Physicians’ Organization at Boston Children’s Hospital. He specializes in Cardiac Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Hickey received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed an internship and residency in surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, a fellowship in cardiac surgery at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, and a residency in anesthesia and fellowship in cardiac anesthesia at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is internationally and nationally considered a leading expert in pediatric cardiac anesthesia. He is a past Editor of the Journal of Anesthesia and Analgesia and the Journal of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia. He serves as President of the Center for Medical Simulation in Boston, Massachusetts.
