Child Life Services

Due to continued precautions around COVID-19, we are only able to accept items purchased from our Amazon wish list, sent directly to the hospital via Amazon. Please click on this link to see what we are in need of most. We are still unable to accept any other tangible, in-kind donations until further notice (including homemade items, store-bought items, and items collected in the community).

You could also help us support our patients and families by hosting a virtual toy drive (ask friends and family to make a monetary donation instead of donating a toy). You’ll help us raise funds to stock playrooms, purchase unique items for patients, and provide support to families throughout the year. For questions on this, reach out to events@chtrust.org.

Our mission

The mission of the Child Life Services Department is to assist and support patients and families in their adjustment to the hospital experience. Emotional and developmental interventions are provided to ensure that the appropriate care and services are provided. This mission is accomplished through collaborative interdisciplinary practice and education.

Here at Boston Children’s Hospital, child life specialists are part of the healthcare team. Members of the Child Life Department work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide developmental perspectives and support the varied needs of patients and families.

How to contact us

Ask your nurse or a member of your healthcare team if you would like to meet with a member of our Child Life Services team.
